6 Smart Ways to Repurpose Your Household Items - part 1

Nowadays you can find anything in the stores. However, many of us do not imagine that instead of buying expensive commercial products you can repurpose some of your household items to serve you double. In this article our cleaning professionals will share with you some proven tricks – choose the ones you want to try and see that these low-budget house cleaning solutions actually work!
  • Do not rush to throw away your smelly food containers. Instead of that take some crumbled newspaper and put it in them for a couple of hours – the newspaper will absorb the odours and you can use your food containers again. The absorbing ability of newspaper also proves to be efficient when you want to dry your shoes – put some of it and leave overnight. You can add a tablespoon of baking soda in each shoe to enhance the effect.

  • In the summertime, fruit flies always find their way in our homes. However, you can easily fight them provided with a bowl of apple cider vinegar – you can add a little bit of dish soap too. Place the bowl on your counter or near the area that attracts these little invaders the most – they will quickly drown. Always keep a bottle of vinegar at your disposal – it can also be a great helper with your house cleaning.
  • You`ve probably heard of the amazing features of olive oil when used for cooking but did you know that you can use it as an all-purpose moisturiser? Make your elbows, hands and cuticles softer than ever and apply some oil on them. Another trick which our domestic cleaners shared is that you can use it as a wood polisher – apply a few drops on your wooden furniture and wipe with a clean cotton cloth.
  • One of the most diverse household products is the baking soda. It has so many uses – from deep cleaning your bathroom to removing scuff marks from your walls. It also works for crayon and pencil marks! Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with several drops of water and form a paste. Apply on the spot and scrub gently. Use a soft cloth to wipe clean. We recommend you to first spot test this method as if you paint is very old it can discolour it a little.
  • You can use a plastic sandwich bag as a water-resistant case for your smartphone. No matter if you are jogging in the rain or you are enjoying a cocktail at a beach bar, this trick might help you. The bag still allows the touchscreen to be used so you will save yourself the sandy mess that can damage your phone.
  • You know that one of the disadvantages of growing old is that the candles on your cake become more and more and the struggle is real when you want to lit them all at once. You can use an uncooked spaghetti noodle as a lighter – not only you will save your fingertips from burning but you will also be able to reach the ones that are in an awkward position in the back.

Keep these life hacks up to your sleeve when you need a smart solution to everyday struggles at home! Make your house cleaning a piece of cake! Don`t forget to check out soon the rest of the tips we have collected in part 2!
